Warangal: Weavers in the old district of Warangal welcome the provincial government's announcement of the Chenetha Health Card Scheme to provide necessary medical care to weavers with annual assistance of Rs 25,000 per person.

They say that no other state government across the country has shown as much commitment to the welfare of weavers as Telangana has. According to official figures, there are 60 weaving societies in the old Warangal, including 5115 weavers working on 5297 looms.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Pita Ramulu, a national award-winning weaver from Kotavada in Warangal, expressed his admiration for the new programme. He said that due to the specifics of their work, weavers often struggle with skin and respiratory diseases. The introduction of a medical record system should provide important medical assistance in overcoming these problems.

In addition, the state government has made significant changes to Netanna Bima's group insurance, raising the upper age limit from 59 to 75. This change will allow an additional 1,455 people to benefit from this scheme, in addition to the approximately 3,000 weavers in the old Warangal area who have already been covered since August 14, 2022. 10 days.

In order to benefit from these welfare measures, weavers must hold an identity card issued by the Telangana State Handloom Cooperative Society (TSCO).

In addition, the government decided to increase the immediate compensation for the death of TSCO members from Rs 12,500 to Rs 25,000. such unfortunate circumstances.

Under the Telangana Chenetha Maggam scheme, all existing looms will be replaced with frame looms, each replacement will cost Rs 38,000.

Another Warangal weaver, Burla Ramesh, expressed appreciation for the initiatives and their critical role in alleviating the weavers' financial hardship.
