After winning the top prize for a high school musical at the 2018 Jimmy Awards, 19-year-old Rapp landed the role of Regina George in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Mean Girls , written by Tina Fey and her composer husband Jeff Richmond. Rapp told NME that while she "enjoyed playing Bad Girls on Broadway," she was "very sick." Rapp told NME. “So the most important thing for me at the moment is to prepare for filming with a healthy mind. Because I don't want to go back to anything."

In a recent interview with the Guardian, she detailed her experience, sharing that some of the groups "say nasty things about my body". Rapp said things got so bad that his parents flew to New York and tried to get him off the show. Rapp attended the show from September 10, 2019 to March 12, 2020 when it was closed due to the pandemic.

Rapp said that not doing Mean Girls on Broadway is good for her health. "Eating disorders don't just go away and you get better, like, 'Sorry, I can eat again, lol.' - says the representative: - This is the work of a lifetime. Drug addiction and what is war is everywhere. I still struggle with it, but at least my parents know that they pulled me out of an environment that was very detrimental to my illness and that's amazing and a huge victory. They are nervous, but I think they are relaxing."

Rapp played the role of Regina George in the Paramount+ musical adaptation of Mean Girls , written by Fey, starring Fey, Angora Rice and Jon Hamm. The rapper recently announced that he is leaving Mindy Kaling's College Girl Sex Lives, in which he plays lesbian Leighton, and Queen Regina George to focus on his music career. His debut album "Snow Angel" was released on August 18.
