Two Expelled Tennessee Democrats To Lose Health Benefits As State Rep. Gloria Johnson Claims Racism

RadarOnline.com has learned that two black Democratic state lawmakers were suspended for participating in gun protests last week.

Rep . Gloria Johnson of Knoxville was part of the trio, now known as the "Tennessee Three," and she says she was the only one to keep her job because she's white.

“I think it's pretty obvious that I'm a 60-year-old white woman and they're two young black men. They talked to me like a woman, they explained to me like a man. It was very different from my questioning,” she told CNN on Thursday. .

He joined his fellow lawmakers, MPs. Nashville's Justin Jones and Memphis' Justin Pearson joined rallies at the Tennessee State Capitol after 28-year-old Audrey Hill opened fire at Covenant School in Nashville, killing six. Including three 9 year olds.

Earlier this week, House resolutions were brought forward to suspend the three Representatives after House Speaker Cameron Sexton stripped them of their seats on committees and subcommittees.

Johnson was the sole survivor of the reduction, by one vote.

Before the hearing, Johnson said he learned of information he wanted to disclose.

“There was only one visit from the Chief of Staff and the House Ethics Attorney General,” said his April 5 tweet. "I appreciate you letting me know that if I get fired, I will lose my health benefits."

Johnson continued, "I am also grateful to the ethics attorney who informed me that in one case a member who could have been suspended has decided to resign because he would have retained his health benefits if he resigned. I appreciate that information." .

The Biden White House condemned the suspension of Jones and Pearson, saying "the suspension of lawmakers who participated in the peaceful protests is shocking, undemocratic and unprecedented."

The statement criticized Republican lawmakers for choosing to "punish, silence, and remove the duly elected representatives of the people of Tennessee."

For his part, Sexton denied allegations that Johnson's bailout had anything to do with the color of his skin.

"It's a false narrative on his part," she said during an interview with Fox & Friends . "It's a shame. She's trying to carry political racism within her, which has nothing to do with her. They all have due process."

"We have rules, we have decency, we have procedures, we have procedures," he added. Sexton had previously said he believed the lawmakers' actions were inappropriate, saying they were trying to "stoke a riot".
