Make wise food and lifestyle choices. Eat a variety of nutritious foods and beverages (containing essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, and phytonutrients) in moderation. Get enough exercise, sleep hygiene, connect with supportive family and friends, and talk about your mental health.
Estimate the need for dietary supplements. It's difficult to meet all of our nutritional needs with whole foods (or in their natural, minimally processed form and without preservatives, added sugars or other additives), so take the time to evaluate your vitamin and mineral needs.
Be physically active. Move! Physical activity and any type of activity has a powerful healing effect on mental health. Doing activities like brisk walking, running, jumping rope, dancing or jogging can engage our body and improve our mood.
Connect with others. Humans were created to socialise. These relationships are not only for entertainment or to get attention, but also to improve mental health. Lack of social connections may be linked not only to anxiety and depression, but also to premature death, heart disease and drug addiction.
Find a hobby or learn a new skill. Hobbies such as gardening, pottery and painting have a positive effect on mental health. It is important to have an interesting, entertaining and useful hobby or profession for a long time.
