Self Care Tips For A Bad Mental Health Day

Self Care Tips For A Bad Mental Health Day

I'm not new to days of poor mental health, especially those fueled by low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, and self-doubt. As someone who usually keeps their emotions to themselves, especially to avoid empathy, it can be difficult to learn how to manage their emotions in a healthy way.

Two semesters ago, I hit bottom: my mental health was at an all-time low. Moving to a new city 350 miles from home has made it important to develop healthy and active habits to unwind after a hard mental day.

Although some of them were difficult to adjust and required a lot of self-regulation, they were essential to re-establishing my relationship with myself. Here are some tips to stay positive.

Don't be afraid to talk to yourself

The most helpful thing is to talk to yourself, examine yourself and help yourself understand why you feel the way you feel. One thing that helps me with my negative issues is to put a picture of myself as a child in the mirror and talk to my inner child, never say anything bad about that child and make me focus on the positive. I've been there for as long as I can remember.

Affirmative Action Programs

I got this clue when I read Bella Hadid's April 2022 cover of American Vogue where she talked about who I am. I am an assertion program that sends you personalized messages throughout the day based on what you are trying to manifest in your life. Not only did I feel better that day, I felt a million times safer.

Listen to music and cook your favorite food

Connect your phone to Spotify or any other medium of your choice and avoid traffic while you cook your favorite meal. To me, it's as easy as salmon and avocado toast or frozen pizza. Any food is good.

Embark on a solo adventure

Get out of your comfort zone and do something for yourself, even if it means going a little further than usual. I made this from my favorite store. Although this required the use of BART and a bus, recovery time was much needed.

Do something that will remind you of where you came from

For me, that means video calls with friends from home, or doing what I do at home. It could be a walk, a visit to your favorite chain restaurant, or something that connects you to your roots.

Productive practice at home

Working out at home always helps me relieve stress and feel good. You won't lose weight or gain weight overnight, but the sense of accomplishment and accomplishment after a workout is priceless. It also helps clear your mind and reminds you that there is always a new day ahead.

Remember that you don't have to be so hard on yourself because we are all in the same mental health battle. Even if you feel lonely, we hope that these tips will help you change your attitude.
