With Mpox At Risk Of Flaring, Health Officials Advise, ‘Get Vaccinated
"It was incredibly painful," she said of her battle with the disease. "I'll try to do whatever I can to avoid that."
He went home to do some research and found a health warning from early May advising people with smallpox to still take their dose. Frustrated, she said she plans to find another clinic to administer the vaccine.

Roman, a 29-year-old production assistant from Brooklyn, who asked that her last name not be released to protect her privacy, attended Chelsea's clinic Thursday and said she lost him last year. The city council has proposed putting out more information at bars, to warn people about the risks of recidivism.
Pride Heritage, the nonprofit organization that organizes New York City's Pride, one of the world's largest LGBTQ pride events, has not yet planned a special Mpox distribution event for the June event, organization spokesman Dan DeMant said. However, healthcare partners can provide information on the stand.
"As an organization, we will do everything we can to educate the public so they can make the right decisions and get the right vaccines, but the decision rests with the individual."
A recent CDC analysis found that 23 percent of the fully exposed US population is fully vaccinated nationally, from 5 percent in West Virginia to 67 percent in Washington, DC, and 45 percent of the at-risk population. 90 percent received a dose.
The CDC estimates that the chance of new outbreaks in most places this winter is 35 percent and lower than last year's outbreaks, such as in Washington, D.C. and New York.
