The 2023 IWBI Workforce Well-Being Survey by The Harris Poll sought to better understand how American workers prioritize and feel their employers invest in well-being, health, well-being and equality in their work environment. The Harris Poll surveyed more than 1,000 full-time Americans age 25 and older over two weeks in January 2023 to provide timely information on the current state of the workforce, including multiple trends driven and amplified by COVID-19. . 19 pandemics with 19 epidemics in the last three years. The survey showed that the vast majority of employees value a healthy work environment and how the company invests in their health, safety and well-being . Specifically, the survey found:
- 96% of employees agree that a healthy work environment is important to employee productivity.
- Almost 9 in 10 (87%) agree that employers are "ethically committed" to creating a work environment that improves the health, safety and well-being of their employees.
- More than 8 in 10 workers (84%) agree that improving employee health is a "must have" for companies.
- 81% agree that the physical work environment in their organization has a major impact on their health and well-being.
Given the current focus on back-office issues, the survey also found that the majority of employees (74%) are happy to return to physical workplaces . However, general health concerns top the list of travel-related employee concerns for employees who telecommute at least one day per week . Specifically, the survey found:
- Nearly three-quarters (74%) of employees agree that the workplace at their company is something they look forward to or look forward to.

A majority of the national workforce agrees that healthy employees are essential to a company's bottom line . In fact, 95% agree (62% strongly agree) that a healthy workforce is critical to a company's financial success. In addition, according to the survey, employees consider a company's commitment to health and wellness another important factor in company performance, including employee engagement, company reputation, and employee engagement and retention. Specifically, the survey found:
- 95% agree (52% strongly agree) that they are more likely to work with a company that clearly cares about the health and well-being of its employees.
- More than 9 in 10 employees (92%) agree that a company that cares about the health and well-being of its employees differentiates itself from the competition (43% strongly agree).
- Nearly 4 in 5 employees (79%) say they would not stay with a company that does not put their health first. And nearly 3 in 4 workers (73%) say they won't work for a company that doesn't demonstrate an active investment in employee health and well-being.
Finally, the study found that many workers participate in flexible work arrangements , and those who do are anxious about returning to work.
- On average, employees report working remotely two days per week; and more than two-fifths (45%) of employees telecommute at least one day a week.
- Nearly 4 in 5 workers (78%) who telecommute at least one day a week say they worry about return-to-work demands (whether their company actually sanctions them or not).
