World Media and Information Literacy Week begins on October 24th . The theme for 2022 is "Building Trust - Media and Information Literacy Matters".

According to the United Nations (UN), “Global MIL Week 2022 is built on trust and solidarity between people, media, digital platforms, governments, the private sector and non-governmental organizations.”

“It shows some of the promising activities of the past year in relation to media and information literacy and how media and information literacy can help build trust and fight mistrust.

Monday is also United Nations Day , marking the anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter in 1945 .

“No other world organization has the legitimacy, appellate power and normative influence of the United Nations. No other world organization can give so many people hope for a better world and future than we want,” said the UN.

"Today the need for all countries to come together to fulfill the promise of the United Nations has seldom been greater."

On Monday, October 24th at 13:00, Ilifa Labantwana held a virtual chat to publicly promote early childhood development. The event was the launch of Ilifa's latest research paper, which proposes a three-year acceleration plan for ECD funding.

The interview comes two days before Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announces the government's spending priorities in his medium-term fiscal policy statement.

On Monday afternoon, the South African Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra) hosted a discussion on Sahpra's achievement of World Health Organization (WHO) vaccine production maturity level 3 (ML3).

The 8th Afrikaans Women Writers' Conference begins on Wednesday at 6:00 pm with Nadine Gordimer's speech in memoriam at the Soweto Theatre. Award-winning author, human rights activist and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga hails from Zimbabwe.

“Dangarembga, who was recently indicted and fined by Zimbabwe's courts for protesting the unfair treatment of journalists in Zimbabwe, is the best voice to speak to the sub-region, which is facing socio-economic and political problems . for human rights and justice, so no conflicting options," says the description of the event.
